Morse Code Trainer (Koch method)
A Morse code trainer that teaches you by ear with the Koch method. You start with just K and M. Each session sends random groups of five characters, and you type what you hear. Copy 90% or better and the next character joins in.
- 40 lessons cover all 26 letters, the ten numbers and . , ? / and =, in the order LCWO.net uses.
- Characters play at 18 words a minute, too fast to count dots, so you learn each one as a sound. Farnsworth spacing stretches the gaps between characters so you still have time to type.
- Character speed, overall speed and pitch are all sliders. Sessions are 25, 50 or 100 characters.
- A score table shows how often you get each character right. The ones you keep missing turn red and come up more often.
- Jump to any lesson if you already know some of the code.
Your progress stays in this browser. There's no account and no ads, and nothing is sent anywhere. Turn your sound on.
There's a longer guide to the method, a printable Morse chart and a translator on illuminationdevelopment.com.
To keep practicing on an iPhone, our app Covert Mail teaches Morse code and ciphers.
